1、北欧 Ukraine crisis: President calls snap vote amid fighting 乌克兰危机：总统要求战时提前大选 Ukraine's president has dissolved parliament and called snap elections, as government forces continue to fight pro-Russian rebel forces in the east. Petro Poroshenko said many current MPs were backers of ousted President Viktor Yanukovych and that the majority of Ukrainians wanted a new parliament. Elections would be held on 26 October, he said in a TV address. 2、美国 Lockdown on US base after soldier turns gun on herself 美军女兵开枪自杀 陆军基地紧急关闭 A soldier barricaded herself inside an office on a Virginia Army base before shooting herself in the head, Army officials have said. The unnamed officer was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital on Monday. The US Army's Fort Lee base was put on lockdown for part of the morning after a report of an "active shooter". Maj Gen Stephen Lyons said the soldier was talking to negotiators before firing a small gun that was not her service weapon. He described the soldier as "enraged" but did not say what about. "We are sad for our solider in arms that she faced those types of challenges that she thought she had to resort to those kind of actions," said Maj Gen Lyons. The soldier held the rank of sergeant first class, and was previously deployed to Iraq in 2007. Army officials said they were withholding her identity until family members were notified. 3、中东地区 Syria will help US fight terrorism, says Walid Muallem 叙利亚表示愿意帮助美国打击恐怖主义 Syria's foreign minister has offered to help the US fight the Islamic State (IS) militant group, which has seized swathes of land in Iraq and Syria. Walid Muallem said Syria was "the centre of the international coalition to fight Islamic State". The US has already bombed IS fighters in Iraq and has hinted it would be willing to take action in Syria. Western powers generally shun Syria's government, accusing it of carrying out atrocities in its three-year civil war. 4、非洲 Nigerian troops cross border after Boko Haram clashes 继博科圣地冲突之后 尼日利亚军越过边境 Some 480 Nigerian soldiers have crossed into Cameroon following fierce fighting with Boko Haram militants. Reports claimed that the troops had joined thousands of citizens fleeing the fighting, but Nigeria said they were conducting a "tactical manoeuvre". Clashes are said to be continuing in the border town of Gamboru Ngala. Boko Haram on Sunday released a video claiming that it had established an Islamic state in the towns and villages it controls in north-eastern Nigeria. 5、南美 Brazil prisoners agree to end Cascavel jail riot 巴西囚犯同意结束监狱暴动 Brazilian authorities say rioting prisoners have agreed to end the unrest that began on Sunday morning in the southern city of Cascavel. Under the deal, reached after hours of negotiations, most inmates will be transferred to other jails in Parana state. Some 200 prisoners have already been allowed to leave the prison to be transferred to other units. They were being threatened by rival gangs at the penitentiary, the authorities said. Another 600 inmates are expected to be taken to other prisons across the state in the next few days.
