It was understated by the unemployment rate, at 6%, she said. She called for the slack to be "more nuanced" in the way it was assessed, due to "considerable uncertainty" about the level of employment. Speaking to an annual Fed conference in the mountain resort of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, she also remained relaxed about the low interest rate policy. Ms Yellen said the "underutilisation of labour resources" still "remained significant" to the US economy. Intermune, which is based in Brisbane, California, makes a medicine for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a deadly disease which scars the lungs. The deal is the latest in a string of mergers in the drugs sector. Yes Scotland argued that a currency union was in the interests of Scotland and the UK, and would be agreed. Currency has been a major issue in the independence debate ahead of the 18 September referendum. The Scottish government has proposed continuing to use sterling in a formal currency union with the rest of the UK if voters back independence. The president said Saturday in his weekly address that unless Congress renews the charter of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, nearly 300,000 businesses could lose their international markets. The bank provides loans, loan guarantees and credit insurance to foreign buyers of U.S. products. He said lawmakers have reauthorized the charter 16 times because the bank works and pays for itself.
