Officials:U.S.rescue mission in Syria failed

      WASHINGTON(AP)—President Barack Obama sent special operations troops to Syria this summer on a secret mission to rescue American hostages,including journalist James Foley,held by Islamic State extremists,but they did not find them,the Obama administration said Wednesday.
      Officials said the rescue mission was authorized after intelligence agencies believed they had identified the location inside Syria where the hostages were being held.But the several dozen special operations forces dropped by aircraft into Syria did not find them at that location and engaged in a firefight with Islamic State militants before departing,killing several militants.No Americans died but one sustained a minor injury when an aircraft was hit.
      华盛顿（美联社）报道——美国总统奥巴马今夏派出特种作战部队到叙利亚执行秘密任务，营救包括美国记者詹姆斯·福利在内的被伊斯兰国极端分子关押的美国人质，但是他们没有找到人质，奥巴马政府周三说。

      Comments:This may sound nuts but why not voluntarily implant a chip in your body surgically before going into a dangerous war zone?Have it registered with a private security group and then share it with the military if you are kidnapped?Like a tracking device they put in cars or the chip they implant in dogs in case they are lost...only smaller and impossible to detect.If I was going into a war zone I would want to have that technology so I could be rescued.My friend's car was stolen and shipped to Africa and it had a tracker which was dormant when it was stolen in NYC when we activated it we could trace the entire movement of the car from a warehouse in Newark all the the way to Gabon in Africa where it was recovered.If you can do that with a car why not people?

      JERUSALEM—
      Israel and Palestinians in the Gaza Strip carried out dozens of attacks on one another Wednesday,with one Israeli airstrike killing the wife and infant son of the Hamas military leader in Gaza.
      Israel said it hit more than 90 targets in the Palestinian enclave along the Mediterranean,one of which struck the house of Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif.Hamas said he is still alive,but the raid killed his 27-year-old wife and seven-month-old son.

Ukraine conflict:Russia convoy'in customs border zone'

      Four lorries from a 280-strong Russian aid convoy have moved into the customs zone near Ukraine's border,a Ukrainian security official has said.
      But Andriy Lysenko said cargo checks by Ukrainian border guards would not start until Thursday because Russia had not provided all the necessary papers.
      The vehicles are due to continue into eastern Ukraine to deliver aid to civilians trapped by fighting.
Ukraine is concerned the convoy could be used to help pro-Russian rebels.
      Russia has repeatedly stressed that the vehicles are carrying only food and medical aid to civilians trapped in the conflict zone,as heavy fighting continues between Ukrainian government troops and the separatists.
      The rebels in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions declared independence from Kiev in April,following Russia's annexation of the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine in March.
      More than 2,000 civilians and combatants have been killed since mid-April,when Ukraine sent its troops to oust the rebels.
      Ukraine accuses Russia of arming the rebels and sending Russian soldiers into eastern Ukraine-a claim denied by the Kremlin.
