Japan PM to appoint Yoichi Miyazawa as METI minister: media

(Reuters) - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will appoint Yoichi Miyazawa as new trade and industry minister, Nippon Television Network reported on Monday, after the incumbent resigned over questionable political funds spending by her support groups, followed shortly by the justice minister.
The new head of the powerful Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will be tasked with implementing Abe's policy of restarting nuclear reactors that went offline after the March 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster. A majority of voters, worried about safety, oppose the restarts.

Islamic State: Fresh fighting in key Syrian town of Kobane

Fierce fighting has erupted in the north of the Syrian town of Kobane, after two days of relative calm.
Kurdish defenders were thought to have pushed back Islamic State (IS) militants trying to take over the town, including from this area.
US-led forces carried out six air strikes around Kobane on Sunday and Monday, the US military said.
The new fighting came as Turkey said it would allow Iraqi Kurdish Peshmerga fighters to cross into Syria to fight IS.

Total's CEO Christophe de Margerie dies in Moscow plane crash

Christophe de Margerie, the chief executive of French oil company Total, has died in an air crash in Moscow.
Airport spokeswoman Elena Krylova said: "Tonight, a plane crashed when it collided with a snow-clearing machine. Three crew members and a passenger died."
"I can confirm that the passenger was Total's head de Margerie," she said.
Mr de Margerie had been chief executive of Europe's third largest oil company since 2007.
The company has confirmed his death.
法国道达尔石油公司（Total）总裁德·马尔热里（Christophe de Margerie）在莫斯科机场发生的私人飞机与除雪车相撞事件中身亡。
莫斯科机场女发言人克里洛娃说，“今晚，一架飞机与机场的除雪车相撞。事件造成三名机组人员和一名乘客死亡。我能确定遇难乘客是现年63岁的法国道达尔石油公司总裁德·马尔热里。”
自2007年以来，德·马尔热里一直担任这家欧洲第三大石油公司的总裁。
道达尔石油公司已证实德·马尔热里在事件中遇难的消息。

Polish ex-minister quoted saying Putin offered to divide Ukraine with Poland

WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland's parliamentary speaker, Radoslaw Sikorski, has been quoted as saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to Poland's then leader in 2008 that they divide Ukraine between themselves.
Sikorski, who until September served as Poland's foreign minister, was quoted telling U.S. website Politico that Putin made the proposal during Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's visit to Moscow in 2008 - although he later said some of the interview had been "overinterpreted".
路透华沙 – 根据波兰议会议长西科尔斯基（Radoslaw Sikorski）的话，俄罗斯总统普金2008年曾建议波兰当时的总统与俄罗斯一起瓜分乌克兰。
